Skiing Exercises
No doubt about it, skiing exercises are a must if you want to avoid pain, discomfort and possible injury.
It is just too tempting, as the day of your skiing vacation dawns, to jump up from your desk, dash to the airport, throw on your skiing clothing and head for the slopes…
Only to find by that evening that your legs are aching and by the next day you are virtually paralysed!
Ski fitness and conditioning should not be overlooked and yet it doesn’t take much to start to get into shape for the pistes, if you start your skier fitness program early enough and make sure you allow enough time for your skiing workouts to take effect.
There are particular muscles that come into play when skiing that you may well hardly use on a day to day basis - particularly if you have a sedentary office based job and have little time for the gym! This makes a properly structured ski workout a must.
Ski fitness workouts aim to target the muscle groups and the aspects of fitness that are critical for safe, healthy skiing. They are not the same as ‘any old’ workout and even if you reckon you are a good level of general fitness you typical routines in the gym, running or jogging, may not be adequate to prepare your body for the punishment of the pistes!
But you don’t need to take skiing exercises tips and advice from me. See what the expert has to say. Here is the advice that top fitness expert, personal trainer and best selling author Mike Geary has to say about obtaining top level ski fitness that will allow you to ski all day and “rock all night”
Skiing Exercises - Tips and Advice
It’s no joke - failing to prepare your body adequately for hitting the ski slopes is a BIG mistake. Its a major error that skiers, both new and experienced, make every year to their cost and poor skier fitness can lead not only to a temporary halt to your skiing activities due to soreness and pain, it can lead to long-term physical damage that could keep you off the piste for months.
Be sure to take skiing exercises seriously and develop the muscle tone, strength and stamina that will ensure that you can keep on skiing to your best ability with maximum enjoyment for as long as possible…and that means for the years to come - not just for one skiing holiday.
