Skiing Clothing is Critical

January 26th, 2009

Yes! Skiing Clothing is critical if you really want to enjoy your skiing. Of course we don’t just mean wearing clothes on the skiing piste (although some folks even seem to resist doing that!) - we mean choosing the best ski clothes for maximum skiing enjoyment.

It may seem like no problem to throw on a pair of warm cotton undies and socks, grab your thickest jeans and rush out onto the slopes but you’ll probably finds that within the hour you are feeling cold, miserable and ready to get back to a nice warm place!

It really cannot be overstated that good skiing starts with good ski clothes. If you dress properly for the slopes you’ll be able to stay out longer, be better protected, feel more comfortable, warm and dry…and all together get so much more out of your skiing vacation.

We’ve got plenty of ground to cover when it come sto providing skiing clothing tips and advice - so keep in touch with this new blog for the posts and pages as we publish them (you can pick up the feed right off this page if you have an RSS reader.

For now lets start with the skiing clothing basics so that you’ll avoid those common faux pas when it comes to donning ski wear and getting out on the powder…

Skiing Clothing #101

The basic things to avoid when choosing ski clothing include these key skiing wear tips:

DON’T WEAR Jeans -
Heavy denim just gets soaked quickly and it’s not windproof. A perfect comnbination for skiing misery

DON’T CHOOSE cotton socks -
Cottons great in the hot, summer days when you want something liht and natural but for skiing it just holds the sweat and can make your feet feel miserably cold. A real enjoyment killer when it somes to getting the most out your skiing.

DON’T GO FOR cotton waffle underwear -
They retain any sweatiness and don’t transfer it (or ‘wick’ it) away from the body - leaving you soon feeling wet, uncomfortable and chafing!

DON’T WEAR stretch pants that you stick into the top of your boots -
It’s tempting and seems a good idea, at first…BUT it causes your boots to fit badly leading to discomfort and development of sore areas.
